As a result of volume growth and several new initiatives, CME has revised the bandwidth requirements for the Market Data Network
(MDN). As you know, we began gearing up for this increase in volume when we advised our distributors of the addition of
Channels 5 and 6 for options traffic on the MDN. (Click on http://www.cme.com/trading/dta/dist/8611.html for more details.)
The recently announced addition of six Market Makers for E-miniTM S&P 500® Equity Options on GLOBEX® (http://www.cme.com/about/press/cn/04-154E-miniS&PMM9777.html), is expected to boost volume in that product. This notice addresses revised minimum bandwidth requirements, based on a review
of recent market activity.
For ITC 2.1 Users (Channels 1, 2, 3 and planned Channel 5 on the MDN)
The minimum bandwidth requirement is now T1. Upgrading to a T1 now will provide sufficient bandwidth to handle peaks in market
activity and allow for substantial growth. The monthly charge for a T1 is $3500.00. This price includes a back-up T1 from
a different carrier for redundancy.
For RLC Users (Channel 4 and planned Channel 6 on the MDN)
The minimum bandwidth requirement is now 4.5 meg IMA. Improved bandwidth pricing was announced last July. Details can be
found at http://www.cme.com/trading/get/adv/7985.html.
To upgrade your circuit, simply click on the attached link for the form – http://www.cme.com/files/md_Connectivity_Access_Request_Form.pdf
Complete the form and return it immediately by fax, to 312/930-8203.
Note: We strongly suggest that you adhere to these new requirements, because the expanded bandwidth will help to ensure that
you won’t run into message latencies and dropped messages during peak trading periods.
